Holiday Blog 2: Tareri Railway  -  18 December, 2006

Hey everyone, well having a great first few days … in fact it’s almost a week now. Had my girlfriend Wendy’s graduation, have been catching up with friends and going to lots of GREAT resturants. Anyway I thought I’d just highlight what I got up to on Friday, cause I know you were just about to ask.

Well … we went on the Taieri Gorge Railway. I didn’t quite know what to expect, but it was fantastic.

We were on the last carriage so we had the platform at the end to take lots of GREAT photos. After you get out of the Dunedin area, you head across the Taieri plains, then up through the Taieri Gorge which is the most scenic part of the trip. Then you head through the rough and rugged Central Otago country to Middlemarch.

(I had to throw in a photo of us:)

… I won’t tell you how many photos I took of us going either in or out of tunnels. lol

Anyway it really was a great trip. Totally recommend it to anyone who is in the area. It is quite long, but totally worth it.
